Agent orange -- real risk?

Agent orange -- real risk?

Good question: The long-term health effects of the herbicide agent orange are not well-studied or confirmed, but may include certain cancers, including prostate cancer, soft tissue sarcomas, and non-hodgkin’s lymphoma. Although there is no likely association with thyroid nodules and cancer, one study yielded preliminary findings suggestive of a three-fold increased risk of graves' disease.

Can you tell me if a man was in contact with the agent orange in the vetnam war can this effect his children he had later?

Can you tell me if a man was in contact with the agent orange in the vetnam war can this effect his children he had later?

Debated: There's little science behind it, but the us government decided to cover the expenses of children with major neural tube defects born to vietnam veterans. I believe this was justified by the needs of these veterans. The vietnamese government of course claims an enormous effect but once again, there's little science and much emotion. Don't be afraid that a veteran is less likely to be a sound dad.

Can agent orange cause diffuse large b cell lymphoma?

No one knows: Certainly some other cancers have been linked but as far as I know there is no direct linkage. On the other hand, herbicides have had an association with lymphoma and myeloma and agent orange is a "super herbicide". It is always hard to show a direct linkage.

Can a father give their children agent orange if they were exposed to it in the late 60s from vietnam.

Agent Orange: A father can not pass "Agent Orange" on. However > "The US Department of Veterans Affairs' subsequent provision of disability compensation for spina bifida-affected children marked the US government's first official acknowledgement of a link between Agent Orange and birth defects. By 2017, spina bifida and related neural tube defects were the only birth defects associated with Agent Orange."

I'm 2nd Generation Agent Orange exposure individual. My father was exposed in Vietnam. Is there a test that shows your body was affected by AO exposur?

Agent Orange: No. The Agent Orange (a herbicide/dioxin) could theoretically cause genetic damage in humans. However, there is no specific 'test' as such that ties a given genetic abnormality to your father's exposure.
