Age or liver spots typically refer to a skin lesion known as a solar lentigo. Typically this is flat, larger than normal freckles and contains darker pigmentation. Other age spots may refer to seborrheic keratoses that are dark, slightly elevated and are described as looking like grease paint. Both of these lesions are generally benign but evaluation by a ...Read more

Could melanoma be picked off? I picked a dark brown 4mm spot nothing there now besides some pink where it is healing. On leg 26male
Doubt melanoma but..: If you have the least concern of a melanoma, it needs to be seen. I suspect instead that you picked off a seborrheic keratosis -- melanomas really can't be picked off. Show your physician the site next time you have an office visit, or if a suspicious lesion recurs, get seen right away. ...Read more

I have a red lumpy spot on my head. Not been there for a while but was noticed 5/6 weeks ago.
My mum passed with melanoma? Can melanoma look like this
Persistent lump: Any mass that persists or grows larger over time deserves to be evaluated for potential cancer. Although most tumors in the scalp are simple benign cysts related to the hair structure, melanoma and other cancers can develop there as well. Melanoma is not usually familial, but your mother's experience should still be cautionary. Get it seen. ...Read more
ABCD's: Remember your abcd's when thinking of melanoma. Look for moles with asymmetry boarders that are irregular color differences within the same mole diameter greater than 6mm also any new mole or old that starts to itch, bleed or ulcerate should be of concern. Another rule is the ugly duckling rule. Which refers to a mole that looks distantly different from the others on your body. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Horizontal dark spot across second toenail, appeared rather suddenly and no pain. Could it just be a hematoma or a subungual melanoma?
Is melanoma common at 26 male on leg? Also would melanoma come of with a fingernail? My reason is my friend scatched a black spot on leg.
Mole on hubbys chest that has a dark spot on it then I remember. He says hasn't changed. How fast does melanoma change a mole? Other signs?
Take a picture: If a mole becomes larger, irregular, changes color, bleeds, develops a ulcer or a nodule, it would be important to have it checked out and if needed removed. You may want to take a picture of the mole to compare it to the actual mole a later date, rather than relying on your memory of its appearance. see this site for info. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/moles/basics/definition/con-20019745 ...Read more
About 5 mm black spot on my toenail. It's on the white part (the nail where it grows). The spot grew bigger upward in 2 day. Could it be melanoma?
Trauma?: Do you remember any trauma to the toenail? A collection of blood underneath the toenail can also appear like this. The safest thing to do is to show this to your friendly dermatologist. While it would be rare of a 20 year old to have a melanoma, it does happen occasionally. Remember to protect your skin. Limit your exposure to UV radiation. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
1 day after mole was shave biopsied for cosmetic reasons, there is a blackish/blue spot left over.Dr never thought melanoma but now i'm worried!cause?
Information: What you see is what is left over from the procedure. The entire mole should be removed. Generally it is usually possible to tell a good mole from a bad one, but not always. Many authorities believe that mole removal should always be complete. Gemerally a shave biopsy does not remove the deep layers. Treatment and prognosis of melanoma depend on precise thickness measurement. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
