After testicular torsion surgery, will the testicular still be able to move about? Will there it feel any different after surgery?

Just fine. Still...: After healed orchiopexy (fix) or orchiectomy (removal), usually, you will not feel any difference, but personal wide difference in anxiety, expectation, and pain threshold makes postoperative pain and ache varying highly. But the the fixed testis still can move about like a normal one but no more self-twisting. ...Read more

What does surgery for testicular torsion feel like?

What does surgery for testicular torsion feel like?

Pain: Emergent surgery is needed to explore testis through scrotum and fix the affected testis if salvageable as well as the opposite one; the time window for saving torsed testis is about 6-8 hours, so go in a hurry. If the torsed testis cannot be saved, remove it (orchiectomy). Postop pain and swelling are expected and usually resolved nicely after the worst pain over the first/second postop days. ...Read more

What are the effects of surgery for testicular torsion?

What are the effects of surgery for testicular torsion?

Several possible.: Surgery for testicular torsion exposes the testicle, de-torses the spermatic cord, and fixes both testicles in place (orchipexy). The incision is similar to a hernia surgery. If the torsed testis is not viable, it is removed. Testicular salvage rates are between 41-70%, depending on age and time to surgery. Orchipexy fixes the testicles in place to prevent future episodes. ...Read more

Tips on avoiding testicular torsion surgery? Positioning to untwist?

Tips on avoiding testicular torsion surgery? Positioning to untwist?

Manual rotation.: Non-surgical correction can sometimes be done by manually rotating the testicle in the opposite direction (outward, towards the thigh). If this is initially unsuccessful, a forced manual rotation in the other direction may correct it. Manual detorsion is successful in 26.5% to 80% of patients. This is a surgical emergency that needs immediate therapy but with good chance of success. ...Read more

How expensive is surgery for intermittent testicular torsion? And how much time is needed to recuperate?

Is there such thing as minor testicular torsion, that goes away on its own/does not require surgery? If so how long does it typically take to heal?

Reduction: Some torsions (twisting) can "un-twist" themselves after a few seconds. Torsions are incredibly painful, & resolution of pain can mean the problem has temporarily resolved. However, torsions don't happen in a vacuum - "bell-clapper" deformities & other fixable problems lead to recurrent, permanent torsion. See a Urologist to evaluate. Even deformities that predispose you to torsion should be fixed ...Read more

What's the healing symptoms of testicular torsion surgery?

No pain: Torsion is treated by untwisting the twisted cord & fixing the testis so twisting cannot recur. The opposite side (that is not torsed)is also fixed because there is a higher chance it may happen there. If the torsed testicle is gangrenous because of not seeking medical care in time then it is removed. Healing is when the pain is gone. Best wishes. ...Read more

Had surgery for testicular torsion before, got sudden pain in testical again whilst at work, I don't want another op shall I go to e.r?

Or see the urologist: If a guy has no other reason for symptoms, and he has sudden or severe pain in the scrotum (the sack that contains the testicles), with swelling of the scrotum, abdominal pain, nausea, or a testicle that hangs higher than normal or at an unusual angle... he could have testicular torsion and needs to get to the emergency room now. If symptoms are quite mild, a primary doctor may examine him first. ...Read more

I went through testicular torsion surgery 5 weeks ago. I am feeling some mild pain down there since 10 days ago. Is it normal? Due to surgery? Thx

May be...: Occasionally, postoperative pain after surgery for torsion may linger, but it could be okay to wait and see as long as getting better slow but surely day by day. But, if the pain worsens and swelling heightens, see surgeon timely for possible superimposed infection, although most of times it still results from slow resolution of "large" hematoma / hematocele, which is to an extent, related with... ...Read more

My son had surgery for testicular torsion 4 weeks ago - out of town. The one that was twisted appears smaller than the other - is that normal?

Probably: Testicular torsion is a painful thing; so I'm presuming he had it seen and taken care of rather urgently. If the blood supply was compromised for a period of time, there may have been some testicular atrophy, which would make it smaller. I think it is more likely that the one was always smaller than the other (common). Either way, it should affect his fertility. Check w urologist. ...Read more

Does no severe pain rule out regular testicular torsion? (not referring to intermittent testicular torsion since that doesn't need immediate surgery)

Is it safe to use regional anathesia for testicular torsion surgery?

Very safe: But testicular torsion needs quick emergency surgery, time is essence, quick un-twisting is required, unless contra indicated, usual preferred method is general anesthesia, some times spinal. In presence of twisted cord and painful condition local field block is also difficult. Speak to your anesthesiologist and surgeon. ...Read more

I had testicular torsion as a kid and had surgery to correct it... now 20 years later I am trying to father a child and want to know what my chance is?

No clue: Did they "fix" or remove one or more testis? Did your testis, if you have them grow into adult size during puberty? Have you had your semen/sperm tested to see if you make healthy material? Without this type of information we can provide no guidance/answers. It is time for you to discuss this with your doc and have an exam and any testing deemed necessary. ...Read more
