After Surgery Garments
Blood: After mastectomy then reconstruction that gets a hematoma is caused by blood. The blood vessels supply oxygen to the breast tissue. This can occur with any surgery and will most likely resolve on its own. It may require drainage. Talk to your surgeon and they will discuss it with you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Abdominal Sutures: After abdominal surgery, many surgeons will remove the skin sutures (or skin staples) after about 7 days. Many times, after they remove these sutures, they might place small tapes, or steri-strips, across the skin edges, to further reenforce the wound for a few more days. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

After Cataract Surg: After Small Incision Cataract Surgery, most eyeMD still recommend no bending, lifting heavy things, straining for at least 3-5 days with shield on at night time/when sleeping; no swimming with eyes open under water as well. If you had an ECCE, most extend this to 7-10days depending if there is no wound leak at the suture site. Your MD should be able to tell you when you can lift these restrictions ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Most photos are fake: Most celebrities guard their privacy even more than their appearance, so much of what is available online is fake. Reputable plastic surgeons are bound by patient confidentiality, so this would be a major breach to "let this information out!" look at actual photos to see examples of facelift, eyelid surgery, and much too much filler and botox! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Probably yes: Almost all of the gas in the abdomen disappears within 24 hours of the surgery. If your abdomen remains tight and distended (enlarged) I might wait a few days until it resumes a more normal size. A week out from surgery there will not be a problem. Only concern is that you might be flying somewhere remote where there isn't adequate medical care if a problem develops. ...Read more

Use your garment: Swelling is normal. Some times is quite severe but usually resolves. You should wear your garment as much as possible for the first two weeks. If it is too uncomfortable get the next size up but remember that once your swelling goes down you might need the other one. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I had gynecomastia surgery 6 weeks ago and today I saw a puffy lump just behind aerola, I removed the compression garment 2 days ago.. What to do?
Will wearing compression garments help in post hernia repair(on jan 2014), hard ball like seroma in abdomen and strengthen surgery areas?
No help now: There are some repairs in the literature that have shown a benefit in preventing seromas by using a compression garment, but once one forms, it will most likely not help make it go away faster. I less it is causing problems, such as pain, or enlarging significantly, i tell my patients to proceed about their usual activities as it should resolve within 6 months. No need for ct scans or ultrasounds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When you have surgery on your hand do you have to take all your clothes off during the operation?
Hi! I was just wondering if bloating so much that my clothes dont fit well a week after getting gallbladder surgery is normal? And how long??
Had larposcopic surgery. Dr gave dissolvable stitiches w/dermabond on top. It's now peeling and catching on clothes. How can I remove the rest?
Had surgery at my butt due to anal fistula injury in 2008. Fully healed. Why does old scar hurt periodically? Notice it happens if scar rubs clothes

My granmother had a surgery 3 weeks ago her blood examinations are HB : 7.3 gm/dL HB : 46 % P.C.V : 25% E.S.R: 110 mm/hr. Is this bad?
Seek attention: The ESR being high is normal after surgery to a certain degree. Your grandmother needs to see her doctor to determine if she is having effects from a low hb, what her normal is, and to evaluate to see if a transfusion is needed. If she has no other symptoms than it may be normal for her. Seek physician attention ...Read more
How dangerous is it for someone who just had surgery within the last 24 hours to have their oxygen level staying down in the 70's and low 80's?
Should i get surgery for tmj? The pain has gotten worse lately, but it’s still not usually too terrible. I’ve heard that sometimes surgery can cause worse problems than the tmj.
It depends: There are many factors to consider. Surgery for TMJ is extremely aggressive and invasive. I would exhaust other treatment options like an oral appliance to adjust jaw position or Botox injections to relive discomfort. Be certain you are seeing a prosthodontists and/or oral surgeon to explain your specific treatment options. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Consult a surgeon!: The US does not have a monopoly on surgeons. There are qualified surgeons everywhere in the world. Just as I would advise in the US, do a bit of research to try to find the best hospital in the area and a surgeon with good credentials. You may also want to get a second opinion. One thing you will find is that surgery outside the US is probably much more affordable! ...Read more
Not rare: I can't give you a percentage, but if you consider all the variety of procedures possible, from oral extractions to skin lesions to orthopoedic repairs to simple hernias to the complex GI procedure to cardiothoracic procedures, there's a good chance something will be needed, and i'm not even including colonoscopy and other endoscopic procedures. Good luck. ...Read more

No: Not a good thing to do. The intentional habit of inhaling burning organic material, combined with various chemicals used in the growing and manufacturing of that material (regardless of whether it is tobacco, marijuana, or any other plant) is bad for the body. Just think about it. Who would intentionally start something burning and inhale the stuff over and over and over? ...Read more
