Edema is normal after surgery and will travel distally toward the foot with gravity and following fascial planes. Probably not.: You can be born with bowed legs (genu barnum) or develop them secondary to medial (inner knee) joint arthritis. Generally surgery involves removal of a wedge of bone which would shorten the bone, but the once the correction of the angular deformity is done, it more than compensates for this. Hi I have one leg that has pitted for a long while, I went to my doctor and had surgery to remove a vein from my groin to my foot this hasn't helped ?

Like a traffic jam.: It sounds like you are describing pitting edema. Removing a major vein from the leg, will force the blood circulating through the leg and returning to the heart to return through fewer veins. This puts a load on the remaining veins which can lead to swelling unless steps are taken to forestall it. Typically gradient compression hose are prescribed. Some is expected...: How long has it been since your procedure? Pain and stiffness are expected to a certain degree in the recovery phases of acl reconstruction. If you had recent surgery i would suggest you continue rice, post-op exercises, and pt as directed.
