After 5 Days Amoxicillin Cough Still Frequent And Debilitating
Im coughing real blood and I've got chest pain. No fever, but constant cough (big smoker). Will amoxicillin take care of it?
Viral?: If your cough developed during or just after an upper respiratory tract infection, (URI) it is likely non-infectious so an antibiotic may not be helpful. Typically, these coughs are bronchospastic and you may need a bronchodilator inhaler and perhaps a steroid inhaler. These coughs can occur with a viral URI or bacterial and may last for many weeks. Inhalers may increase your comfort. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Diagnosed with strep throat on sunday still not feeling better amoxicillin for 3 days now i have a cough n throat still soar and swollen?
Should be better.: Hello! After 3 days of treatment, you should be getting a little better. It is possible that you have a resistant strain of strep and that you need a different antibiotic. It is also possible that you have something else going on as well - usually strep infections do not cause a cough. I would recommend that you get in to be seen for reevaluation. Good luck and get better! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I'm on Amoxicillin for 'walking pneumonia' & sinus infect. After 10 days, still have bad headache, sore throat, & sporadic cough. Do I go back to Dr?
I would: You've been patient. It's possible that there is something else that needs attention and relief. Pay attention to your life-style too. Are you drinking enough water, eating healthy, getting good rest? Not smoking or taking too much alcohol is helpful. Symptoms can become chronic and you're wise to keep that from happening if you can. Best! ...Read more
ENT prescribed Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 875 BID for 14 days for bad sinus infection. 2 days left throat still swollen, cough and post nasal drip. What could it be?
Just found out that I am pregnant, I've been taking amoxicillin for a bad cold I got. Is it safe to continue taking it? I still have a bad cough.
Not a problem: Amoxicillin is not likely to help your cold if that is what it is, nor will it harm your baby. If you do not really need the Amoxicillin would stop it now. There are several potential side-effects for you (not your baby) that are unnecessary to risk. Good luck and have a great baby. ...Read more

4yo is on augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) day 5 for sinus infection double ear infection. And she's still has a juicy bad chronic cough. And junky nose. When will this end?
Sinus infections: often take longer to go away than 5 days. Sometimes they need 2 courses of an antibiotic. Your daughter may also have a concurrent viral infection causing her cough, which certainly can last longer than 5 days. If she is not better after 7-10 days on her medication, or if she is worsening, she should be re-checked by her doctor. ...Read more
On amoxicillin for sinusitis. I'm on the 8th day and I am still coughing like crazy at night from this sinus infection. When will the cough go away?
Better antibiotic: Sinusitis is better treated with Levaquin (levofloxacin) since its tissue availability deep in sinus is better. Amoxicillin is better for soft tissue swelling/infection. Consult with your doctor for treatment of the cause of your sinusitis. Treat the cause, not the symptoms. ...Read more
