No: In general if you have a seizure disorder, you need to see a neurologist. B vitamins is a huge family of vitamins. Generally they do help neurological function and yes, it also is a good idea if you exercising and preparing for an ironman competition. B vitamins in and of themselves do not prevent seizures, but they can help as most nutrients can like fish oil, co q 10 and good multivitamin. ...Read more

Not Common: While this may be a good long term goal, Ironman Triathlons are not well suited to athletes of this age. Some races may not even let minors participate without parental consent. If she is truly interested in triathlons, you can contact your local triathlon club or race director for information about how to get started and how to build up to longer races. Yes...: Female athletes are more likely to have ovulation and menstruation disorders that effect conception (esp runners, gymnasts, ballet dancers). With intense training schedules and limits on caloric intake, women can be vulnerable to female athlete triad: disordered eating, amenorrhea and osteoporosis. Periods can stop when your body no longer makes estrogen to produce eggs (hypothalamic amenorrhea). ...Read more

PERHAPS DISC?: Sounds like more than a cervical strain. You may have suffered a disc displacement, but you could have cervical spondyolosis, or even some issues in the proximal brachial plexus. Suggest evaluation with either an md or do physician, and perhaps some films of the neck. ...Read more

Overuse syndrome: Several thoughts, all of which need you to see your regular physician. The training and competition especially with swimming necessitates repetetive motion. Your muscles and fascia have nerves that can become irritated and could require an injection at the base of your head. MUST c physician : Base of skull is protecting crucial part of your upper spinal cord and portion of your posterior brain, cerebellum, basal ganglia. Stop any movement or manipulation of head and neck, and see physician immediately. Since you will need imaging of cervical spine, probably best to go orthopedist, spine specialist, or er. Get advise from ur primary physician first. This may be more than neck strain! ...Read more

Feel okay now but: Very likely your heart is now affected due to thick heart, probably due to hypertension or other type of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, so strenuous exercise esp. Isometrics, weight lifting, and like can make this condition much worse and can even lead to sudden death. Competition exercise or marathon running is an absolute contraindication for these patients.
