Consider alternative: One round of oral steroids is worth a couple of years of daily inhaled steroids, plus it provides better symptom control. There may be some risk to the bones and eyes at the highest doses, but it is safe in general and safer than the alternative- risking bad asthma exacerbations. Diskus dial: On the advair diskus, (salmeterol and fluticasone) each time you ue the inhaler , the number on the diskus will be decreasing . Since advair is a powder fom it is very difficulty to know wether or not you have use if you do not pay attention to the small dial number on the diskus. ...Read more

Is taking two puffs of 250mg advair the same as taking one puff off 500mg advair given to me as a sample?
More bronchodilator: There are two components to advair. One is a bronchodilator and the other is an inhaled steroid. Two puffs of the 250 strength of advair is about the equivalent as far as the steroid goes but you will get twice as much of the bronchodilator. Maybe: Check in w/your family doc & ask for pft (pulmonary function test) to determine how well you're breathing. You may have subconsciously decreased your activity level to avoid becoming short of breath w/o your meds.
