What causes tingly sensation you get in nerves, head, throughout body when skin is rubbed or massaged? Does it impact adults' growth hormone in way?

Would either Marfans or hypothyroidism & its meds keep an adult's growth plates from closing normally thus resulting in added growth well into 30s/40s?
Probably not: With diagnoses like Marfans and hypothyroid, you need an excellent doctor. If you are truly gaining height at this age it is VERY unusual. One condition causing this is pituitary secretion of growth hormone, but rarely growth hormone may be produced elsewhere. See a specialist in Endocrine disorders, possibly at a University/ Med School ASAP. Be well! ...Read more
Is it true if an adult's growth plates never close post puberty they'll keep growing taller throughout their life? What bone diseases can cause that?
Growth plates: Highly unlikely but if you are concerned see an Endocrinologist and/or a bone specialist ...Read more
Mysterious: Along with "hypophyseal-pituitary axis disorder", this is a poorly-understood. There's no doubt that some older adults feel much better when supplemented with a bit of growth hormone. And it's a popular diagnosis for quacks to sell growth hormone to troubled souls. A specialist knows how to do the lab work but there's no hard-and-fast criteria yet. ...Read more

What types of medical conditions could cause an adult, whose growth plates should have closed years ago, to grow one, two or three inches?
Why would adults take growth hormone supplements and do they add height in adults? Are they found in fertility meds, Chinese herbs for infertility?
Adult GH use: Hi. I treat adults with pituitary deficiency with growth hormone (GH); they generally feel better on it and restoration of normal levels has physiologic benefits. GH is used off label in non-deficient adults as a "fountain of youth" medicine; shown to be neither safe nor effective in this setting. Too much GH has well established risks. GH is a protein and must be injected (like insulin); no oral ...Read more
14 yr daughter 5'7 145lbs, 1 yr cycle. High level soccer tore acl/meniscus. What is best graft/why? Dr said ht adult since growth plates are prob open
Know your options: First of all, there is no best graft. There are several options and all of them have pros and cons. At 14, your daughter is nearing the end of her growth and most sports docs would lean toward treating her more like and adult than a child. You want the graft that will work the best in the hands of the surgeon you have chosen in order to return your daughter to the level of performance she had. ...Read more
Does going to a chiropractor for herniated discs make an adult taller-actual permanent growth in height or does posture improve making you look taller?
What other than a pituitary tumor could cause a noticeable height increase in adults? I noticed a growth spurt around age 38 & then another at 41.
Doesn't actually...: Height growth due to increased growth hormone does not happen in adults because their growth plates in their long bones have fused. That means any perceived increase in height would not be related to any presumed or actual pituitary tumor in an adult over age 25 or so. ...Read more
What happens when an adult's (over age 35) growth hormone is stimulated & produces excessive amt of hormone (don't have acromegaly). Can U grow taller?

Can hypothyroid cause delayed growth in adults rather than wt. Gain? Never had unexpected wt gain until same time as getting dx of hypo. At 26 y/0
Unrelated in adult: Hypothyroidism in infants or children would be picked up when it began to interfere with growth. Growth assessment is part of routine checkups & leads to a drop off in growth rate. Linear growth stops in most females by 17 and males 18 when growth centers close. It is almost a decade since your linear growth was expected to stop, so a new diagnosis of low thyroid has nothing to do with your height ...Read more

Is it true stimulation of growth hormone, causing tingling sensation from a massage can cause height growth in adults long after bones should be fused
How can I find out if I have pcos? I have regular periods but have other symptoms like adult acne, excess hair growth, & weight gain.
I know there are thousands of rare diseases but are there any known ones that cause adult height to signif. Grow after years of no growth? I'm 39.
That's a strange one: Because usually after the ends of the bones fuse in young adulthood, it is not possible for them to lengthen, which is what would be necessary for one to get taller. There is a condition called acromegaly that could cause some bones to get wider, so hands and feet and jaws and forehead can grow. If you are noticing this, you should be checked for pituitary problems. Good luck! ...Read more

Can you please specifically list all conditions or diseases that can result or bring on added inches of growth in height in adults years past puberty?

What causes spontaneous growth spurts in adults? Same height for yrs then out of blue had a growth spurt around 38 another @ 41adding inches to height
Endocrine Disorder: Spontaneous growth spurts in adults is abnormal. Normal human growth ceases by the time we reach 18-20 yo, when the growth plate in our long bones close. Growth is hormonally regulated via pituitary-mediated secretion of growth hormone, GH. Excess GH is concerning for an endocrine disorder, such as a pituitary tumor. Please see your doctor for a full evaluation and referral to an Endocrinologist. ...Read more
Read in rare cases growth plates cease to close. But what conditions/problems cause that and do adults eventually stop growing taller & at what point?
The reproductive: Hormones estrogen/testosterone regulate the growth plates in both girls and boys. Estrogen, it turns out, drives this and if a boy has a genetic effect of estrogen production and estrogen sensitivity the growth plates fail to close on time. A pituitary growth hormone producing tumor diagnosed before growth plate closure would also result in very tall stature. Hope this helps:) ...Read more
Can excessive GH minus acromegaly cause growth plates to slow or reopen in adults causing height to stop growing & then restart again 12 yrs later?
Confusing!: Truly excessive GH is a rare condition with causes rapid growth if your growth plates are still open (generally younger than age 16) and acromegaly if you are an adult and growth plates are closed. There is no chance that excessive GH would cause your closed growth plates to reopen but I may have misinterpreted your question. ...Read more
