Does Prozac (fluoxetine) tend to make ADHD symptoms more pronounced?

Does Prozac (fluoxetine) tend to make ADHD symptoms more pronounced?

Maybe: The neurotransmitter (nt) most involved in adhd is dopamine. Prozac boosts the effects of serotonin, another nt. Those two nts are kind of on a 'seesaw' in the brain, so when seroonin is stimulated for a while, you may get a fall of in the effects of dopamine, which can worsen adhd symptoms. One solution is to add Adderall or Ritalin (methylphenidate) for your adhd which stimulates dopamine. Check with your doctor. ...Read more

I'm a 29y/o woman diagnosis with ADHD and anxiety. I was prescribed 10mg of fluoxetine, 25mg of hydroxyzine and 0.2mg of clonidine at bedtime. Is that safe?

Probably safe.: The doses you have listed (10 mg of prozac, 25 mg of vistaril, (hydroxyzine) and 0.2 mg of clonidine) seem reasonable to me, especially if there was at least a few days between starting each (so that the cause of any adverse effects might be more easily known). Taking Adderall (as indicated) with these has some risks of adverse interactions, thus close monitoring for potential adverse effects is indicated. ...Read more

Antidepressants can actually make things worse in that situation. Get emergency care if you ever got to the point that you might act on these thoughts. Take care. ...Read more
