Doctor insights on:
Adductor Magnus Exercises
Hi, popped an adductor leg pressing. I'm middle-aged, how long ay it take before I should exercise the area again?
Depends: .........on the extent of the injury. See your doctor for complete evaluation.
Ball exercises: Leg adductor exercises can made more effective with squeezing a large inflatable yoga ball. Leg abductor exercises with a light 5-10 ankle while lying on your side can be very effective to build these mesclun groups.
High arches: They both can be tight depending on high is high. Is there a valgus or varus deformity as well. Is there inversion or eversion problems? Ask a foot doctor.
Either or:: Hamstrings is the name for a group of muscles, one of which is add magnus, which is the largest. An orthopod on examination, or a MRI could help with dx. See your orthopod..
Hip adductor.: I assume you mean a hip adductor. Adductors are important in helping with lateral motion and helps keep control of the thigh bone during exercise.
No statistics: No clear statistics available for this injury, however, runners make up a large portion of my practice. Based on my personal experience I would say this is a relatively uncommon injury but when it does occur is very frustrating to treat because recovery usually takes several weeks to at times months for complete resolution. One of the biggest issues is trying to get a runner to stop running.
I can't ride ride a bicycle due to my adductor muscles? How long until my muscles let me ride? Or am I out for good?
Myalgia: If it is soreness from excercise, you should be okay in around 5 days. Otherwise it depends on what kind of injury you had.
2yrs after 80mgkenalog injection into left adductor tendon, why does the left adductor feel permanently weaker/tighter?
Rare side effects: Kenalog (triamcinolone) injections have been implicated with some rare side effects, long after the injection. I have read of the advent of atrophy at the injection site: this means that if given into connective tissue (ligament) that it may be experiencing atrophy (loss of tissue and therefore strength). It has been reported that muscle injection sites have atrophied in such a way as to "crater".See 1 more doctor answer
I have a "moderate" and "small" tear of the rectus abdominis adductor (left and right side respectively). Is surgery essential or the only option?
Probably: Elective unless causing undue pain or other special problem.
Weight machines.: All health clubs have hip abductor/adductor strengthening machines. They are excellent for what you're requesting.
See details: It depends on the severity of the tear. Estimate 6 weeks but severe tears can take up to 3 months.

I pulled an adductor during during a large leg press, felt a groinal pop. How long will it likely take to heal in mid-aged diabetic male? Thanks.
Groinal pop: I don't know how long it might take to heal but I would recommend a visit to your doctor to check your symptoms and clinical findings, then decide what he thinks would be most helpful to lower your pain. Make sure the doctor also checks your blood sugar in the office, and don't forget to bring the recent blood sugar data to the office.
No you don't!: Leg adductor exercises can made more effective with squeezing a large inflatable yoga ball. Leg abductor exercises with a light 5-10 ankle while lying on your side can be very effective to build these muscle groups.

I regrettably got a corticosteroid ing into my left adductor tendon 2 yrs ago-now the fat is gone and it is weak/shrunk. Is this permanent?
Yes and No: The fat being gone is permanent, although some cosmetic surgeons are having some success with fat transfers. You may want to consult a specialist. As far as the weakness, see your doctor about a referral to physical therapy. They should be able to help return the strength and flexibility to the area.See 1 more doctor answer
