How do I find a doctor who specializes in gad - general anxiety, not afraid to prescribe Adderall XR at higher dose than normal? My doctor is basically thrown me out the door. My feeling is he is afraid of the d.E.A. - a dr. Leading his field quit to do m
This is a great question. Sometimes patients reach a an unorthodox solution to a difficult problem, and as you are experiencing, the dedicated doctor who help you leaves.
The first thing you could suggest is for your current psychiatrist to speak with your former psychiatrist. Perhaps they can come to a mutual understanding about continuing the medications that have helped you.
If that doesn't work, you should contact either the american psychiatric association or the utah psychiatric society for a list of psychopharmacologists in your area. If there is no one close by, it could be worthwhile for you to travel to a university for a specialized consultation in coordination with a local psychiatrist. The university of arizona and ucla both have great psychiatry departments. In addition, steven stahl, a pre-eminent psychopharmacologist, is based in california and might be a good person to go to for a consultation.
Thanks for this important question. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Is it possible to get prescribed ADHD medication such as adderall online as I have no primary doc?
Not from any site: Such medications are class 2 controlled substances monitored closely by the feds. Providing you with any of these without a proper physician/patient relationship, history & physical with supportive documentation of need can end the physicians career. They would risk loss of ever prescribing controlled meds in the future and loss of license. Your "need" is a poor reason for such a risk. ...Read more

Already above max:

Please do not just ask a PCP to increase over recommended doses. It's not fair to either of you. Best! ...Read more

Interactions: Technically, Ultram and Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) do have an interaction in that they can increase the risk of seizures, more so with higher doses of each. The maximum adult: Dose of Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is 40 mg./day. Sometimes it's necessary to exceed this recommended daily limit, after checking the patient's blood pressure, pulse & cardiac rhythm. Exhausted: First recommendation - have a formal evaluation about your sleep. You might be exhausted because it is not restorative.
