Can ritalin (methylphenidate) ( or adderall) cause heart problems to develop in a person who is perfectly healthy, with absolutely no history of heart issues?

No: Other than an increase in heart rate, these stimulant medications used appropriately will not cause heart problems. There would have to be something there to start with and that they may exacerbate (worsen). Some heart problems may not be readily known about, though, things like prolonged qtc, unless you have looked very carefully for them because of some type of symptom or family history. ...Read more

Is vasoconstriction caused by Adderall temporary or permanent?

Temporary: Adderall is cleared quickly by the body and the vasoconstriction would resolve after clearance. Is it possible to fully repair a weakened heart caused by Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine)? By exercising?

See answer: Not clear what you mean by a 'weakened' heart or any adverse effects from Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). See your pcp or a cardiologist for evaluation, possible further testing, and guidance. If you think you have a 'weakened' heart, do not exercise without medical supervision. I hope this helps. ...Read more
