Why are torrent 10mg zolpidem stronger than teva 10mg zolpidem? Different manufacturers... There's a big difference... Thanks!
Should not be: Medically speaking, they are the same medication so should not differ in efficacy. At time, different manufacturers may use different inert ingredients such as dyes for coloring, or the encapsulation process, etc. And on a rare occasion, these minor differences may affect the way a person reacts to the medication. An fyi, the other issue is, the fda now recommends the max dose in females is 5mg. ...Read more
No: That would be an off label use of the drug which could increase side effects. Not a good idea. ...Read more

I currently take 10mg of ambien (zolpidem) but have taken 20mg in the past. 10mg is not working. Can I take 15mg?
Your choice what you: Do, as always. 10 mg/day is the max approved dosage, adjusting to response makes sense. Study the Prescribing information, for Ambien at: http://products. Sanofi. Us/ambien/ambien. Pdf & https://www. Google. Com/search? Q=ambien+overdose, https://www. Google. Com/search? Q=zolpidem%20molecule. I'm prescribed 10mg Ambien (zolpidem) to take every night, and been on it for 5+ months. I've built up a tolerance, is there a higher dose I can take?
No: Ambien (zolpidem) 10 mg is the maximum dose. The problem with ALL the tranquilizer type sleep meds is you build a tolerance to them and they don't work after a while. This is why it's best not to take these every night. Taking them every 2-3 nights works better. Alternative meds that could help with sleep are Trazodone, Remeron, or Vistaril. These often are not addicting/do not cause tolerance. ...Read more
I was prescribed zolpidem 2 days ago. The first night I took 1 10MG and it left me tired the following day. Last night I took 1/2 of 1 and I was up al?
Ihave been on generic Ambien (zolpidem) 10mg for 5 yrs now, seems as if it is startin not 2 work as well, isn't there a stronger/or different form of ambien (zolpidem)?
Other medications: Using Ambien (zolpidem) non-stop for that long would be expected to not work after awhile, because tolerance has likely developed. Ask your doctor about other possible medications that might pertain to your own case. I'm not sure if your sleep disturbance has been fully evaluated, as to why you need a medication like that for such an extended period? A sleep medicine doc and/ or psychiatrist could help. ...Read more
What's your goal?: Short answer: yes. But it will cause you to be sleepy. The better question is should you take zolpidem in the afternoon. My response would be: what is your reason for doing so? Perhaps you're a shift worker and you sleep during the day? See a sleep specialist for a more thorough discussion on your goals. ...Read more
Unknown: On Health Tap, a virtual consult would be appropriate for requesting personalized recommendations. In general, lorazepam is pharmacologically active for up to a day and the sedative effects are multiplied if zolpidem is also used. That said, it could still be safe in individual circumstances. You could always try non-pharmacological methods to improve sleep. See comment... ...Read more
Can there be any research into the possibility of treating mental health disorders with zolpidem?
Maybe: But I doubt they'll find anything beyond its effectiveness as a sleep aid. Zolpidem (ambien) is designed to work through its action on a subset of benzodiazepine receptors. The hope was to find a medication that would provide the sleep benefit of a benzodiazepine without some of the problems, like physical dependency. ...Read more
Possibly: Zolipidem was designed for short term use no chronic use. It is a benzodiazepine which is addictive. In the past the maximum dose was 10mg. Now per the fd women should not be on more than 5mg due to decreased metabolism in women. It is also on medicares list of meds that people age 65 0r 0lder should not be on. Work with your doctor to wean off of it. ...Read more
Can zolpidem be removed without wining off? Can I just stop taking it and reduce to "as needed" only?
You could: You could, but if you've been taking it regularly for a long time you could have some rebound insomnia. I see that you also list "depression" as a condition -- this can cause sleep difficulty, and can worsen if not treated. Neither zolpidem nor diazepam will treat depression effectively. If your primary care physician can't help you, please see a psychiatrist about this. ...Read more
