Docs, could a HIV positive person get acute retroviral syndrome upon reinfection?

Yes, theoretically: Yes, it is theoretically possible that someone could get acute retroviral syndrome upon reinfection with another strain of HIV. First of all, reinfection is very, very rare but not impossible. However, reinfection with a second strain (perhaps more powerful than the original strain) theoretically could cause an acute retroviral syndrome as it is a completely new infection altogether. ...Read more

What.Does HBV DNA positive mean?Chronic or acute

Either: Hepatitis b virus dna means that there is presence of the virus in your body. This can be found in both acute and chronic hepatitis. If your liver enzymes are elevated in low numbers or normal and you have no symptoms such as jaundice, nausea/vomiting, changes in stool/urine color and a positive test, most likely hbv is chronic. No worries: Every HIV test that exists, anywhere in the world, is conclusive by 3 months. The most commonly used tests are conclusive by 4-8 weeks. For sure your negative result at 14 months proves you don't have HIV, no matter how high risk the exposure (and if not reexposed), and no matter how typical the symptoms. Entirely healthy people often get perianal fungal infections; it's not a sign of HIV. ...Read more

Tb blood tested negative but TB skin testd positive, what is that mean? Continuous low grade fever, swollenlumpnodes, sore thrt, HIV PCR RNA negative.

Contradictory Tb tst: Quantiferon-TB(the blood test) and the PPD(skin test) are not recommended together. The quantiferon test has more sensitivity/specificity(measures for how good medical tests are) but the gold standard is culturing the bacteria from either tissue or sputum which should be attempted if their is clinical suspicion for TB infection. ...Read more

Had EBV test came back EBV nuc IgG ser qi eia positive and EBV vac IgG eia postive. Ebv capsid IgM eia negative. I'm so tired what do this mean?

Makes perfect sense: Igm antibodies rise only during the actual, acute infection. They then fade away and are replaced by the various igg antibodies, which are the ones that provide lifetime protection against the same strain of the virus. So your numbers are consistent with the fact you had mono years ago. There is no igm, and positive igg levels. So you are immune and do not currently have mono. ...Read more
