Acupuncture Pain Management Leg
Acupuncture is a treatment based on Chinese medicine -- a system of healing that dates back thousands of years. At the core of Chinese medicine is the notion that a type of life force, or energy, known as qi (pronounced "chee") flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Each meridian corresponds to one organ, or group of organs, that governs particular bodily functions. Achieving the proper flow of qi is thought to create health and wellness. Qi maintains the dynamic balance of yin and yang, which are complementary opposites. According to Chinese medicine, everything in nature has both yin and yang. An imbalance of qi (too much, too little, or blocked flow) causes disease. To restore balance to the qi, an acupuncturist inserts needles at points along the meridians. These acupuncture points are places where the energy pathway is close to the ...Read more

After getting acupuncture for a shoulder problem, my left inner shin keeps going really hot. What could it be?
May need to stop: Often after knee surgery high impact activity needs to be modified or curtailed. I would recommend low or no impact aerobic activity instead like cycling or swimming as an example. Perhaps working with physical therapy may help but in any case have great running shoes replace every 6 months and rest knee with any pain until resolves. If pain still persists see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
After having acupuncture for a shoulder problem my left inner shin keeps getting really hot, any ideas why?
Ask acupuncturist: Interesting. This may be a coincidence, but everything in our bodies is connected. Neural therapy was discovered when an injection of novocaine into an itchy scar on a patient's left leg instantly cured her chronic right shoulder pain. Acupuncture meridians can extend from the upper body to the lower body. This would be a good question to ask your acupuncture practitioner.Let us know their answer! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
