Qi maintains the dynamic balance of yin and yang, which are complementary opposites. According to Chinese medicine, everything in nature has both yin and yang. An imbalance of qi (too much, too little, or blocked flow) causes disease. To restore balance to the qi, an acupuncturist inserts needles at points along the meridians. These acupuncture points are places where the energy pathway is close to the ...Read more

Is acupuncture good for shoulder pain?

Is acupuncture good for shoulder pain?

Possibly: I'd recommend you consult with an experienced physical therapist who has worked with acupuncturists. Sometimes response to acupuncture depends as much on the patient as it does the therapy itself, and a lot depends also on the cause of the pain. Would acupuncture help lessen my fibromyalgia symptoms?

Would acupuncture help lessen my fibromyalgia symptoms?

Acupuncture appears to modestly reduce many types of chronic pain, so it's not surprising that many people with fibromyalgia are interested in trying it: While the studies on the effectiveness of acupuncture for fibromyalgia symptoms are somewhat mixed, most suggest that it may have a beneficial role. If you're having trouble finding relief for your fibromyalgia pain, it may be worth trying acupuncture.
