Activities For Toddlers Cognitive Development
6 month-old sleeps max. of 7 hrs/night, & takes no naps (literally, none) during day. Is this sufficient sleep for healthy cognitive development?
Can you tell me how can the environment of traditional neonatal intensive care units (nicus) influence preterm babies cognitive, and social development?
NICUs and developmen: The noisy and painful experiences in nicus of the past appeared to affect babies development. Added to that, the lack of parental contact has been shown to be detrimental. Modern, progressive nicus encourage parents to participate in their baby's care or provide surrogates (cuddlers). They cluster care to minimize interruption of babies' natural cycles. They decrease noise and other stimuli. ...Read more
Likely blood flow.: Daily physical activity helps the blood flow better. This means blood flows to the brain better, and makes it work better, unless there are complications, like brain diseases. It also relieves tension, and helps sleep since it makes a person tired after activity. This, and a balanced diet, and enough sleep can make a person feel invigorated and very alert. ...Read more
Concussion 5 days ago. Rested & avoided cognitive activity since injury. Need to return to work, but get headaches after 40 minutes reading/computing?
Don't overdo it: Concussion injuries recover in variable time frames. You probably need just some more rest time. Understanding how long it takes to develop symptoms is helpful, as you should anticipate but not push the time to headaches and take breaks frequently. You will hear that you should avoid this type of activity; however, if you can tolerate periods of time without symptoms, you are not inducing harm. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What could be the result I might feel after a cognitive behavioral therapy if I have social anxiety and low self confidence ?
Yes, but it is rare: It is possible to have cognitive side effects from dbs surgery. Some of this could come from a stroke or bleed (both of which are rare). There have been cases, particularly in parkinson disease when leads were implanted in the subthalamic nucleus, where patients have had psychosis. Fortunately these types of side effects are usually quite rare. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I take risperidone. It has cognitive sideffects due to anticholinergic activity. What can I do to treat it? Will Alpha GPC, choline or lecithin help?
Dose of Risperdone: important. See more anticholinergic side effects at doses greater than 1 mg. Parkinsonism above mg. Concomitant use of Ginko may worsen situation. Ginko has not shown to improve long term cogntive issues. One study in China with concomitant use of Risperdal has been completed but results are unavailable at this time. Another study looking at use of Risperdal with Ginko in autism showed no benefit. ...Read more
