19 month old speaks 15 words and many protowords, understands one step commands and 100 words. Tested, and is socially fine. Speech delay or normal?

Possibly delayed: At 19 months, one would expect a toddler to know 50-75 words, understand up to 200 and be able to follow a two step command. These are only general guidelines, as speech development can vary in certain situations, such as bilingual households, multiple siblings, etc. Excessive pacifier use has been linked to delayed speech development as well. Hi, friend is getting a blood test soon (fbe, tsh, b12/folate and iron studies) him being a regular cannabis consumer, will the test detect marijuana?

Unlikely: Thc metabolites are stored in body fats and excreted through urine. So it is unlikely that thc would be detected in blood test. But cannabis use would be detected in urine test. If he should be testers for employment etc., best he stop or reduce cannabis. Best regards, dr. Catherine shaw. ...Read more

Pt in Kuwait, low risk sex activity. PCR equivocal. Repeating. Other tests neg. his question is this test done the same US, Germany, London, test +/-?

Depends: PCR is very specific and sensitive, but all tests have a false positive rate, and for PCR, the number is very small. I don't think it should matter where the test is redone as long as the technique is the same or similar ...Read more

Not necessarily: I am a neurologist and to my knowledge your description of things is not sufficient to diagnose Asperger syndrome though certainly some features may be present. Other things should also be looked at and ruled out. I would be happy to help direct you in this regard. Write me-www.healthtap.com/DR-Saghafi ...Read more

Will tremponal tests (eia, ClIA ) become positive before non tremponal tests (rpr, vdrl)?

Will tremponal tests (eia, ClIA ) become positive before non tremponal tests (rpr, vdrl)?

It can happen: Revised reply: disregard earlier one if you saw it. At first I misunderstood the question. The newer TP specific IgG/IgM tests (EIA etc) and RPR/VDRL have similar seroconversion times, typically 4-6 weeks. The IgG tests often are positive first, but exact frequency of this isn't yet known -- more study needed. Apologies again if any confusion from earlier reply. ...Read more

Are 3d movies bad for kid.Planning to take the kid to finding nemo?

Maybe: How old is your child? Some children may find the 3d scary if it is their first time at a 3d. You know your child and if you think it is okay then i would go and before hand i would describe the 3d (iethings will look like they are in front of you or coming out of the screen..Just a movie and they are not). My young son did not like cars2 in 3d last year but this year wants to see a 3d. ...Read more
