Can you give me advice? I have been detoxing but now after 6 months I have come across fluoroquinolone toxicity?

Good health: Certainly antibiotics may have side-effects, and so it's important to only take antibiotics under the direction of a physician. It sounds like you've been trying to improve your health for some time, so I wonder 'how' you might have come across fluoroquinolone toxicity? I think you need to schedule an appointment with a doctor to thoroughly review your case. Hope you can get help. ...Read more

Is any doc here who believes in fluoroquinolone CNS toxicity? I'm ruined by it. Can something be done? Benzos don't work anymore at any dose.

Is any doc here who believes in fluoroquinolone CNS toxicity? I'm ruined by it. Can something be done? Benzos don't work anymore at any dose.

Absolutely: But am unaware of long-term effects. Most of the neurotoxicity seems reversible with discontinuance of the medication. Benzodiazapines may or may not be of assistance when taking the fluorinated quinolone, but if you are having persistent problems after stopping the antibiotic they may not be related to the primary therapy. Good luck. ...Read more

Is there any evidence of long term after effects of fluoroquinolones? I am reading alot about these meds damaging the body long term

Unlikely: Almost any drug can cause side effects while taking them. With fluroquinolones, common ones include minor mood changes, skin rash if allergic, and rarely painful tendon rupture with strenuous activity, especially the achilles tendeon. However, there are few if any important long term effects after the antibiotic is stopped. Search online for side effects or toxicity for any particular drug. ...Read more

Why aren't most doctor$$ aware of the fluoroquinolone's dangers? There are support groups for people destroyed by them and most of docs don't believe it

Side effects: Doctors are or at least should be aware of the side effects of the medicines and their incidences and the bad ones of course on fluoroquinolones are cardiac and the achilles tendon and its interactions with other meds. The benefits and disadvantages should then be weighed whether they should be used in a person or not and alternatives should be sought if the decision is made. ...Read more

Do fluoroquinolone side effects last for years after finishing them? Concerned I may have side effects. Fatuige, weakness, muscle aches. Thanks

Can psyllium powder be taken along with antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) as a stool softener?

Yes to psyllium: However, I recommend plenty of water, fruit and fiber in the diet as the best way to maintain good bowel function. The problem is, if you start to depend on psyllium, you may get bound up if you don't have it... I always like the natural way.
There shouldn't be any drug-interaction with your antibiotic and psyllium - so I wouldn't worry about that. ...Read more
