Acne Related To Missing Ovary
PCOS: There are several options. Lysine, 1000 mg twice daily actually works well for acne. It is an amino acid and available over the counter. BCPs are commonly prescribed since they not only regulate irregular periods, but can control acne and slow abnormal hair growth. Another option would be a medication called Spironolactone, depending on how bad the acne is. Talk to your physician about these. ...Read more
Is it normal to have breakouts (acne) after removing 1 ovary? I don't usually have acne just a few ones, im using xout now to clear my breakouts
No: It is a good treatment that will keep even severe disease at bay for many months after other modalities such as topical or systemic antibiotics, topical retinoids, the oral contraceptive pill and/or spironolactone have failed or not been usable. Acne is a chronic serious non-lifestyle related disease that eventually remits. Good luck. ...Read more

I have a cyst in my ovary and also acne problem my gyno prescribed me Diane 35. Is it gonna help my acne? I'm also on minocycline for 7 weeks! Pls hlp
Probably: Most ovarian cysts are harmless and in fact almost all women have a few tiny or not-so-tiny ones. Heads-up... the meds you're taking for acne will work best if you also use a topical agent such as benzoyl peroxide or retinoic acid. If you don't get a good result from this regimen, there are others -- spironolactone can often help a young woman. ...Read more

Oily skin: I would go to a Dermatologist and see what they suggest. I assume you have been seen by an endocrinologist. If not would ask about Cushing's. ...Read more
I have acne on the forehead and sometimes i feel uncomfortable in the area of ovaries,is it related? For example the secretion of hormones.
Yes: Pain in the ovaries is usually ovulation ( if it's mid-cycle) or ovarian cysts. Acne has a components of hormonal influence. So both can be caused by hormones. Polycystic ovarian syndrome can also be the cause of ovarian cysts & acne. I'd recommend seeing your PCP or a gynecologist. ...Read more

The hysterectomy: will help your bleeding issues. It should help some of the pain problems that you are having. Keeping the ovaries will keep your hormones at a relatively consistent level. The American College of OB/GYN recommends ovarian preservation for women under 60 who have no family/personal history of ovarian cancer/cysts or breast cancer. What to do if you have polycystic ovaries (looking) but no other signs of syndrome? Thin..no acne...periods slightly long cycles but still ovulate.
Get checked.: Sometimes there are other causes for some of the same symptoms that occur with women with PCOS. A doctor can evaluate your symptoms and do appropriate testing to see if you do have it. Women with PCOS have been shown to be at risk for developing Type II diabetes, so getting a sure diagnosis is a smart thing to do. See http://tinyurl.com/or6nyss ...Read more

IDK: I'm not an OB/Gyn, but my answer is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" You are 24, have you ever been pregnant? Plan to be any time soon? Are you on BCP now? I have big ovaries.Length and width are about the same.I noticed thick hair on face, acne on lower back, abdominal bloating. What tests should I do next?
Gym shoe fit: In a spirit of respect. I suspect you have ovarian hyperthecosis, which looks clinically like polycystic ovaries but with more androgen production and large, solid, non-cystic ovaries. There is a limited amount that today's medicine can do, and a specialist consultation is wise; he/she will choose how to do the workup. The chief thing you can do that may help is get hard into physical fitness. ...Read more

Polysistic ovaries, normal blood work, slim, no acne, long regular cycles, slightly hairy more than normal. It isnt necessarily pcos is it? Just pco ?
PCO: Yes, it sounds like PCO but NOT PCOS. Hair growth can be sometimes normal based on your ethnicity. If you are not trying to get pregnant, taking Oral Birth control can help make your periods more regular and help with the hair growth. If your periods are between 26-35 days, then likely you are ovulating which means you can get pregnant. Not sure what labs you had, though ...Read more
