may be not.: Allergic reaction can be treated with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) by mouth and Cream. Also apply Cortisone Cream to the area. These will help curb the spread of Rash. Assuming you cleaned and washed the area with soap and water first. Keratosis pilaris?: Sounds more like keratosis pilaris, small hard plugs at the opening of every follicle. Commonly seen on backs of upper arms, sometimes cheeks, sometimes front of thighs. I usually recommend my patients try gentle cleanser such as dove or cetaphil, and apply eucerin plus lotion or amlactin at least twice daily. It takes a few months to clear. Simple hives: Agree. Simple hives can last weeks, months, years. Unfortunately by 3 weeks causes become difficult to know. Often immunologic hives from a virus go for a few weeks. If longer, or if bruises, joint pain, throat swelling, need consult. Check kidney, liver, autoimmune, chronic infection, even for cancer.
