On average, how long will acne scar treatment last?

On average, how long will acne scar treatment last?

Indefinitely: Once the treatment - like laser or chemical peel - has healed, and a few months have gone by, the results in the treated area should be stable.

Scar Treatment (Definition)

Scar treatment can be defined as any intervention performed on a scar. This can vary from simple treatments such as topical massage or tape or silicone gel sheeting/ointment proceeding up to progressively more aggressive and invasive treatments ranging from external energy application (ultrasound, laser, light, radifrequency, etc) up to injections, radiation therapy, surgery ...Read more

Tell me about laser acne scar treatment?

Tell me about laser acne scar treatment?

It works VERY well!: The co2 laser works very well for acne scars of the face. The co2 laser emits invisible energy that is absorbed by the skin, vaporizing a very thin amount of the surface. The laser energy also stimulates production of new collagen. This results in the skin becoming smoother, and ultimately stronger and thicker than before the treatment. It may not get rid of all the scars, but it really helps!

Stabilization flares: I would first recommend trying to treat the underlying condition prior to scar management.

Will it take more than one laser acne scar treatment to diminish the scars on my face?

Will it take more than one laser acne scar treatment to diminish the scars on my face?

Depends on modality: Laser treatments for acne can only soften the scars, but do not completely erase them. The non invasive lasers build collagen slowly, take multiple procedures and are costly. The more invasive treatments (ablative fractional resurfacing or full face ablative laser resurfacing with co2 or erbium laser) has both the abrasion affect as well as the collagen building benefit, but more down time.

Acne scars: For deep ice pick scars, the best treatment is excision and suture closure. For more superficial scars, sometimes the scars can be released and fat injected deep to the scar. Frequently the surface can then be improved with laser resurfacing.

Which is better for acne scar treatment - derma roller / laser?

Which is better for acne scar treatment - derma roller / laser?

Both: Both are great treatments in the right hands. Only go to a dermatologist with a lot of experience, not just any laser or salon that does these treatments. It can be horrific if performed in the wrong hands.

I have a indented 0.6cm box-car looking acne pitted scar in length and around 0.2cm in depth next to my brows. Treatment to recommend? Ty!

Laser genesis: I would recommend a laser genesis treatment. We offer this at TLC aesthetics in tampa florida. See our website at botoxfun. Com. The laser genesis treatment sends heat to the area to help with collagen stimulation and scar reduction. A series of laser genesis treatments weekly would help significantly with scar reduction.

What's the best treatment for acne marks/scars?

What's the best treatment for acne marks/scars?

Acne and scars: It is important to treat your acne so that you don't get permanent scarring. Some patients wait too long before seeing their dermatologist to have their acne treated. Normally topical medicines and internal antibiotics are used to keep acne under control. Acne scarring can be improved with filler injections, subscision, dermabrasion, laser, punch graft transplantation and other techniques.

When can I seek treatment for residual scars from acne once I'm off acutane?

When can I seek treatment for residual scars from acne once I'm off acutane?

1 year: Although each surgeon/dermatologist that treats this may have different opinions, at least 6 months and for most of us, 1 year must have passed before any facial resurfacing for acne scars should be performed. Options include dermabrasion / laser resurfacing (most often CO2) and/or chemical peel.
