Yes: Otc benzoyl peroxide 2% or 5% costs $5-10. Be careful: it will bleach clothing, towels, bed sheets. It is irritating & drying near lips & eyelids. If you control acne, you will slowly recover more normal color. A dermatologist can help with prescriptions. Try this: Retinoic acid instead of or in addition to. It's more likely to cause de-differentiation of your sebaceous glands. If you want to be rid of the acne, or if it's on your trunk as well, ask your physician whether a short course of oral medication occasionally might help -- tetracycline's one option, and you stay on the topical stuff. Skin issues: Oily and scaling skin on the face may be seborrheic dermatitis. Acne is another problem. I would suggest referral to dermatologist for a full exam. Acne may respond to benzoyl peroxide and topical or oral antibiotics or vitamin a derivatives.
