Infections/allergy?: acid reflux shouldn't cause your tongue or gums to hurt or burn,but gingivitis from bad oral hygiene,or allergies from certain meds or foods can cause that burn. Possible: It is possible that you have acid reflux bit could also be a number of other things. Do you feel like it started after you took the antibiotics? Prilosec for acid: A proton pump inhibitor such as Prilosec or Prevacid (both available without rx) will help with the acid reflux (as would histamine blockers such as zantac (ranitidine) or pepcid). I have a sore tongue that I am pretty sure is from acid reflux. Am on 40mg protonix (pantoprazole) and 300mg gabapentin and low acid diet. How long will this last.
Sore tongue: Your "sore tongue" is not related to your acid reflux, if in fact you have this condition. Are you self medicating with OTC protonix (pantoprazole) and Ranitidine? It is unnecessary to take both. Why are you on Gabapentin? I don't see anything under conditions that supports that prescription unless you have been diagnosed with "neuralgia" or seizures. Tongue pain is worrisome for cancer if h/o to and alcohol. ...Read more
