How much time does acid reflux take to heal?

How much time does acid reflux take to heal?

Acid reflex: How long it takes to get acid reflux under control using medications depends on how severe the erosions in the esophagus are at the time you start. Eventually, we can usually get them under control. However, the medications used for reflux control it but do not make the problem go away, so most people require maintenance medication to keep the problem from recurring. Hope that helps. ...Read more

I have acid reflux and take zegerid (40 mg) daily. Recently, I am experiencing a tightness in the middle of my chest. I have no other symptoms

I have acid reflux and take zegerid (40 mg) daily. Recently, I am experiencing a tightness in the middle of my chest. I have no other symptoms

Zegerid: Zegerid is a combination of Omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor antacid) plus sodium bicarbonate as a quick relief antacid and helps to protect Omeprazole while in transit thru the stomach. It is used for patients with ulcers, gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn).

Chest tightness can be from a variety of reasons and needs better characterization. It can be from a gastrointestinal cause, such as gastroesophageal reflux, but can also be due to cardiac reasons, such as angina or a heart attack, or from lung problems, such as asthma, as well as from musculoskeletal problems. If this tightness has not been usually associated with your heartburn, then I suggest that you seek medical attention to make sure that this is not cardiac in nature. Since you do not provide any information about other medical conditions, history of risk factors for heart problems, such as smoking, elevated cholesterol levels, diabetes, hypertension, I cannot give you an indication of likelihood of any of these diagnosis. ...Read more

My baby has acid reflux (she takes 15 mg of prevacid (lansoprazole) daily at 7 pm) but she is starting to refuse her bottle again she is 6 months old what can I do?

See the pediatrician: There are quite a few reasons why your baby may be refusing her bottle. You need to see her pediatrician to sort things out. The most important thing that your pediatrician will do is weigh and measure her, then get more history. If it does sound like uncontrolled reflux, you may get a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist. ...Read more

Not sure: I am not sure that your gerd is not related to your heart. The question is whether the Omeprazole actually helps or not, if not, the indigestion may be really angina. Omeprazole is not commonly known to cause "irregular heart beat". ...Read more

Does prescription strength acid reflux medication take away calcium from your body? Some patients are stating that their teeth become brittle, I'm worry

Does prescription strength acid reflux medication take away calcium from your body? Some patients are stating that their teeth become brittle, I'm worry

Not usually: Teeth are much more likely to be damaged from the long term effects of acid reflux than from the medication. However, one of the common side effects is dry mouth, which can contribute to tooth decay and gum problems. I would recommend using biotene mouthwash and toothpaste to improve the dry mouth situation and perhaps a Fluoride gel in a custom tray at night for maximum protection against decay. ...Read more

Low risk at your age: Your risk of esophageal cancer is low at your age. I hope you are now an ex-smoker. However, if you have H. pylori infection as a cause of your reflux, you remain at risk for esophageal Ca. Take Mastic Gum (from a health food store) for your H. pylori and reflux. 1000 mg/day kills 99% of H. pylori in two weeks. ...Read more
