Antacids: Gastric reflux is helped by taking an antacid at bed time. Try eat supper 3 hours before you go to bed. Prevacid or Zantac (ranitidine) at night will also help. No: Acid reflux is physiologic. In other words, it's normal. However, it becomes pathologic when it bothers you. Fermented food doesn't cause acid reflux any more than non-fermented food. However, "bad" acid reflux allows acid to get high enough back up esophagus to cause sore throat. Antacids (calcium carbonate), H2 blockers & proton pump inhibitors help. Odd: That is a bit odd, the classic symptoms of acid reflux is burning, mid abdomen, right under the middle of your rib cage, and pain can radiate up into the chest. I suspect it could cause discomfort like you are saying, but make sure you are on top of treating your symptoms with medications. Not reflux: Reflux most commonly causes heartburn and regurgitation. There are other symptoms, but none of them are reproducible by pressing on your abdomen. I have a sore tongue that I am pretty sure is from acid reflux. Am on 40mg protonix (pantoprazole) and 300mg gabapentin and low acid diet. How long will this last.
Sore tongue: Your "sore tongue" is not related to your acid reflux, if in fact you have this condition. Are you self medicating with OTC protonix (pantoprazole) and Ranitidine? It is unnecessary to take both. Why are you on Gabapentin? I don't see anything under conditions that supports that prescription unless you have been diagnosed with "neuralgia" or seizures. Maybe: All these are symptoms that patients complain on Depo-Provera Lupron (leuprolide) but have not been substantiated by the company. My experience is that when you take hormone replacement back they get better. Ask your md if you could have add-back therapy, although typically this is done after 6 mo of Depo-Provera Lupron (leuprolide) for endometriosis or cancer. ...Read more

"Silent reflux": You don't have to have heartburn or the sense of stuff coming up to have "reflux". Most people with reflux don't have heartburn. The only symptom may be hoarseness, asthma, swallowing difficulty or the feeling like your throat will close.
