Does fermented food leads to acid reflux and sore throat?

No: Acid reflux is physiologic. In other words, it's normal. However, it becomes pathologic when it bothers you. Fermented food doesn't cause acid reflux any more than non-fermented food. However, "bad" acid reflux allows acid to get high enough back up esophagus to cause sore throat. Antacids (calcium carbonate), H2 blockers & proton pump inhibitors help. When is the best time to take a hpt? I'm 4 days late with cramps and sore nips with acid reflux. I took a test but it came back negative.

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

I have a sore tongue that I am pretty sure is from acid reflux. Am on 40mg protonix (pantoprazole) and 300mg gabapentin and low acid diet. How long will this last.

Sore tongue: Your "sore tongue" is not related to your acid reflux, if in fact you have this condition. Are you self medicating with OTC protonix (pantoprazole) and Ranitidine? It is unnecessary to take both. Why are you on Gabapentin? I don't see anything under conditions that supports that prescription unless you have been diagnosed with "neuralgia" or seizures. Maybe: All these are symptoms that patients complain on Depo-Provera Lupron (leuprolide) but have not been substantiated by the company. I do not have acid reflux, do not have a sore throat, and I am not sick. So what would cause you throat to feel like it wants to close?

"Silent reflux": You don't have to have heartburn or the sense of stuff coming up to have "reflux". Most people with reflux don't have heartburn. The only symptom may be hoarseness, asthma, swallowing difficulty or the feeling like your throat will close. There is a muscle in the lower neck that encircles the upper food tube that hates stomach juice and acid. When it comes into contact with it it spasms. ...Read more
