GERD: Your symptoms are consistent with reflux of stomach acid into esophagus. This creates inflammation of the esophagus (the food tube). This is usually a chronic problem and requires medical attention. Relief with meds like Nexium can help control symptoms but if this lasts longer than 2 weeks, see your doc ...Read more

If progressive...: Exposure of the vocal cords to stomach acid ; pepsin will result in inflammation of the vocal cords (as is also often seen with acid regurgitation). Acute laryngitis may result, but watch out for chronic hoarseness, throat clearing, airway spasms, bronchitis, an asthma-type presentation, and even a higher risk of throat cancer. Impedance pH testing with a symptom diary can best characterize this. ...Read more

Take antacids: Acid reflux is relatively easy condition to treat. But you need to know (read up) about the various medicines which are useful. Relax, try to sleep: This is likely all related to reflux, as it can cause the discomfort in your chest and throat. An effective home remedy is 1-2 tsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Mustard can help too! See http://www. Earthclinic. Com/cures/heartburn.html
Of course antacids can help if you have on hand. Try something to relieve symptoms and relax and go back to sleep. Sweet dreams. ...Read more
