It's possible.: it is possible to get esophageal spasm from acid reflux. If this is the cause of your spasm, you should note that as you successfully treat the acid reflux, the symptoms of the esophageal spasm get better. Many things: For many, prevention = avoiding fried/oily foods, peppermint, chocolate, cheese, tomatoes, alcohol, nicotine, spicy foods, black pepper, orange juice, eating <4 hrs before bedtime.Raising head of bed 6in can help.Course of otc h2 blocker (eg. Ranitidine) or ppinhibitor (eg. Omeprazole) can help.If pain/difficult swallowing, wt loss, no appetite, or no improvement, better see doc; those can be warning signs. ...Read more

Acid reflux: Sounds like your stomach empties slowly. I would advise consulting with a GI specialist. Avoid caffeine, sodas, acidic foods and overeating. An acid blocker may be helpful like Zantac (ranitidine) or Prevacid . You probably need an upper GI study or endoscopy if your symptoms do not improve.
