I'm having an acl reconstruction next week but have a slight occasional cough with clear mucus which feels like acid reflux. Will my surgery be postpo?
Resolving URI: Probably not if your symptoms are resolving and due to an uncomplicated URI or a bronchitis triggered by environmental allergen exposures or air pollutants. You should definitely report this to your operating orthopedist and often a preoperative visit is scheduled with the on call anesthesiologist. With or without intubations these symptoms can worsen post operatively. ...Read more

Digestive issue. 6 hours after eating lots acid reflux, coughing, gad, and mucus. For 33 year old nonverbal autistic adult female. Local physicians.
Acid reflux: Sounds like your stomach empties slowly. I would advise consulting with a GI specialist. Avoid caffeine, sodas, acidic foods and overeating. Maybe worse-than-usual irritable bowel syndrome, but it's also possible you have inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), celiac disease, or other serious intestinal problem. If you're gay and have had anal sex, STDs are possible. See your doctor or a gastroenterologist soon. ...Read more
Why does mucinex (guaifenesin) dm seem to be tremendously helping my acid reflux and allergies its clearing up mucus and I know its reflux from food I eat?
New discovery?: I guess you have made a new discovery on treating acid reflux. I can only guesis that the mucinex (guaifenesin) has left a coating floating above your stomach content thereby preventing acid and food from coming back- there is no scientific proof. It appears that you might have considered your "post-nasal" drips to be from allergy when it is from reflux. ...Read more

Doctor thinks I have acid reflux, but I have a lot of mucus when I wake up, then goes away throughout day. Should I clear throat, ignore or swallow it?
Possible Sinus?: Lots of things can cause you to have mucus when you wake. What you do with it, probably doesn't matter too much. I would see your doctor and consider something like nasal steroids (flonase, nasonex (mometasone) etc) to see if the mucus decreases. Room air humidifier at night, decongestants also may help. ...Read more
