Started out feeling like a side ache for the first day. Then i got sharp pains when breathing in my lower left rib cage area. Hurts to lay on sides.?

Lots of things: Most chest pain of the sort you describe comes either from the chest wall (ribs, sternum) or the lining of the lungs (the pleura). The lungs have no pain sensory nerves, and therefore (in spite of how often we hear of it) its never accurate to state that your "lungs hurt". Sore muscles can also cause these symptoms. ...Read more

Pain on left side of rib cage (no physical injury, but swelling), even on deep breathing. Localized on touching. Had a bike accident 2 days back.
Possible fracture.: It is possible to fracture a rib or just bruise it up pretty well. Sometimes the pain can be severe. As long as you are not having any shortness of breath (excluding that due to sharp pain with inspiration) you will heal. Most likely in chest: You may have a problem with your lungs such as pneumonia, or irritation of the coverig of the lungs which is called pleurisy.
