See your primary care doc, and if necessary referral to a physiatrist. These symptoms usually improve with a short course of anti-inflammatories (if you can take them) and physical therapy. ...Read more

Nerve entrapment?: Need to be investigated. Concerns are a possible herniated cervical disc or nerve being entrapped at some point in your arm. Need to be examined and an EMG is a very useful tool in determining the proper level of nerve compression.Of course some other causes of nerve tingling need to be investigated. ...Read more
I have had a dull aching, radiating pain in my left arm for about 4-5 days now with tingling sensation in arm but mostly in the fingertips. It gets pr?
Could be nerve:
Hard to tell based on limited information. Many times neck and shoulder muscles when injured will cause a radiation of pain in the arm and a sensation of tingling.
However, if there is any associated weakness you should be evaluated by a ORTHO/NERUO/PM&R promptly.
Also if there is any nausea or sweating with it get to ER for cardiac work up....you are young for that but you never know. ...Read more
Sharp pains in left arm sometimes dull ache. When pressing thumb and first finger together it's worse.?
Could be tendinitis: There may be more than one etiology of this but my first consideration would be tendinitis, The pattern going down the arm to suggest this and we need to know where on the arm you feel the tenderness. This would be a clue to the tendinitis location. Other conditions could also be included and you need to see your physician for an evaluation. Other choices could be neurological or vascular to na ...Read more
Pain radiating to left arm and chest originating from near left shoulder blade. Tingling in left arm till fingers also present depending upon position?
Two considerations: You might possess pinching of nerve in neck, cervical radiculopathy, and if arm is raised, you might feel less symptoms. Or, you could have thoracic outlet syndrome, and if arm is elevated, you will have more intense symptoms. One additional caveat, make sure that your pain is not of cardiac origin. Have your doctor assess all of this. ...Read more

Is pain in left arm with tingling in fingers cause for concern? Was hospitalized last yr with a PE.
Tingling in the arm: The tingling and pain along with numbness sometimes, is a symptom of a nerve pinched in the cervical (neck) spine. Possibly due to an injury such as falling forward or any jerky motion (incl chiropractic manipulations). It would not be related to your PE but you should see a physician who specializes in pain or orthopedic surgery for proper diagnosis. Meanwhile try to avoid looking down (texting) ...Read more
I'm 38 years old and I'm having tingling in my left arm all the way down to my finger tips and pains in my shoulder?
Need evaluation: Difficult to determine without an examination. Differential diagnosis could be cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve in neck), brachial plexopathy, peripheral nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel syndrome (not uncommon for cts pain to travel up the arm), or even myofascial pain with trigger points. Would suggest physiatric evaluation for definitive diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
My 50 yr. Old husband has tingling and numbness feeling in his left arm mainly in his fingers and goes up to his shoulders, what does this mean?
Need evaluation: Difficult to determine without an examination. Agree with others who suggest need for medical evaluation to rule out cardiac causes. However, can also be peripheral nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel syndrome (not uncommon for cts pain to travel up the arm), cubital tunnel syndrome, or cervical radiculopathy. Would highly recommend evaluation. May need emg/ncv testing. ...Read more
I have frequent numbness & tingling on my left arm & fingers. It started a few months ago with consistent intensity. What is it and what should I do?
Neurologist: An impingement of a nerve is suspected. The impingement may be at the wrist (carpal tunnel) but could be at a higher level in the neck, shoulder or elbow. A brain lesion in the right cerebral cortex is less likely a cause due to lack of arm weakness. A neurologist is best qualified to evaluate you and an EMG may be performed in order to localize the impingement. ...Read more

My middle finger tip on my left arm has felt numb and has a tingling sensation for the past couple days, any idea why? Or am I just crazy?
Where is the lesion?: If its just the middle fingertip you probably squeezed something too hard and have an issue with what's called a proper digital nerve. Recovery depends on weather or not the injury caused focal demyelination or actual nerve injury. (Usually the former takes a week or two and the later may take months if the nerve has to regrow. Sometimes Carpal Tunnel or a pinched nerve in the neck can do this ...Read more
