See below: Any sinus congestion? Earache may have been part of URI including sinuses, which can cause referred pain to back of head. Try nasal irrigation with saline spray. Likely you have a mild concussion. Are the symptoms getting worse or improving? If getting worse, see your doctor. If improving, treat w/ tylenol (acetaminophen) & rest and avoid another head injury. No sports for 4-6 weeks. If you have any double vision/arm or leg weakness, see you fan doc.

I get earaches occasionally. I find that if I lean my head sideways so that the ear that is aching is facing the floor the pain goes away. Is this a clue as to what might be causing the pain?
