Aching behind knees at night. Have a superficial varicose vein. Could that be causing it? Worried it may be PAD, and I'm about to start oral BC.

Aching behind knees at night. Have a superficial varicose vein. Could that be causing it? Worried it may be PAD, and I'm about to start oral BC.

See Vein Specialist.: It is very unlikely that you would have PAD at 25 years old. The varicose vein may be a source of your problem but because you have a vein does not mean that it is causing problems. See a vein specialist for a venous evaluation before starting OBC pills. ...Read more

Can a 2.5cm ovarian cyst cause bad groin pain and aching behind knee (same side). The ovary is painful and the groin/leg pain started at this time also?

Can a 2.5cm ovarian cyst cause bad groin pain and aching behind knee (same side). The ovary is painful and the groin/leg pain started at this time also?

Possibly: The ovarian 2.5 cm cyst is only one inch in diameter, but if it is sitting on a nerve that runs through your pelvis to your legs, you will get inguinal or radiating leg pain, depending on the nerve and its' distribution. I have an ache behind me knee and I have just noticed a small bluish lump on my shin. Otherwise, there is noswelling or discoloration of leg. Couls it be dvt?

Superficial clot?: This might be a superficial thrombophlebitis, which in essence is a clot, but not a dangerous one. Bluish discoloration, a thickened vein that might be tender, localized swelling and tenderness are usually seen with these clots; warm compresses to the area, elevation and anti-inflammatory medications help; if not better in 2-3 days, seek medical advice. ...Read more

Lump and ache pain behind knee. Bakers cyst or tumor or varicose vein?

Lump and ache pain behind knee. Bakers cyst or tumor or varicose vein?

Depends: Least likely cause is the bakers cyst as these are usually asymptomatic. The only way that a varicose vein could be felt as a lump is if it has clotted off in which case it usually would also be very painful. Therefore this could be a thrombosed varicose vein. Possibility of tumor can not be discounted as it is included in the differential. ...Read more

I have a pain/pressure between my ribs in the center of my chest and stomach. Also aching behind my left knee. Been a couple of days. Whats wrong? :(

Chest pain: Although the two areas you describe may not be part of a single diagnosis, if they are it has the potential to be very severe (blood clot in leg with clot thrown to lungs - pulmonary embolus/infarction). The best thing to do would be to go and get this checked out by a physician. Hope all is well and this is actually a minor problem. ...Read more
