Can I give my baby adult medication like acetaminophen?

Can I give my baby adult medication like acetaminophen?

Yes, But!: But not the same dose. Must be age and weight adjusted to be safe. Note, the liquid tylenol (acetaminophen) for children recommends you ask your doctor if child is less than 2 years old, and so you should ask your doctor to help you adjust the correct dose for your child. I agree with dr. Lindor and katz that it is better not to adjust it on your own, and not to give an adult medicine to an infant. ...Read more

If I am allergic to acetaminophen, what other medications should I stay away from?

Not come across one!: Good evening,
during my 40 years of practice, I have not come across a patient with an allergy to acetaminophen. I do not see any reason to worry about other medications, you need to avoid. When we say allergy, we mean a reaction due to presence of a specific antibody that causes symptoms of allergy. I am not aware of any test to show that I have an allergy to acetaminophen. If I I took ibuprohen 800mg 3 hours ago, can I take tylenol (acetaminophen) cold and sinus night time medication now?

Yes: Because these 2 are from different classes of medication, it is fine to alternate Ibuprofen and tylenol (acetaminophen) for a short term basis.
