Expert opinions? Which is stronger, hydrocodone or tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine?

Expert opinions? Which is stronger, hydrocodone or tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine?

No such thing as: "stronger." it is a misnomer to talk about strong and weak opiates, although doctors do this too. It depends on dose and side effects. Codeine is relatively impotent - takes 30 mg to equal 5 mg of hydrocodone, but at those same doses they do pretty much the same thing. However, Codeine has way more potential for side effects, especially at higher doses, so it is more poorly tolerated over 60 mg. ...Read more

I have a kidney infection and the doctor just switched me from tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine to hydrocodone. Which medication is stronger?

I have a kidney infection and the doctor just switched me from tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine to hydrocodone. Which medication is stronger?

Hydrocodone: Is more potent, in that 7.5 mg of hydrocodone is the equivalent of 30 mg of codeine. More importantly, hydrocodone is better absorbed, gets into the brain faster, so it provides more pain relief sooner, and has fewer side effects (itching, flushing, nausea, hives, diarrhea) than codeine. ...Read more

Dr gave me cough syrup with codine an hour ago can I still take a tylenol (acetaminophen) 3 with codine?

Dr gave me cough syrup with codine an hour ago can I still take a tylenol (acetaminophen) 3 with codine?

Don't advise it: Unless your physician who gave you the cough syrup with codeine, knew you were also taking tylenol (acetaminophen) #3, you should not take both. Each tablet of tylenol (acetaminophen) #3 contains 300 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) and 30 mg of codeine. While these are not high doses, when taken in combination with cough syrup that may contain tylenol (acetaminophen) and certainly codeine, you may be taking too much. Check with your physician first. ...Read more
