Is there any study the used of perindopril during breastfeeding will affect the baby? My wife used this as per specialist advise

No: There is inadequate literature available to assess the risk. Your wife should consider being switched to a different medicine unless there is a very strong indication for perindopril. If she has a peripartum cardiomyopathy and must take it, consider stopping breast feeding. ...Read more

Baseline BP recordin: Blood pressure is not a fixed number...it will be somewhat different every time it is checked. So we need a good BP record done under resting conditions. Any physical or emotional ups/downs will raise it to some degree. I would not advise her BP treatment unless you get 3 to 4 readings done on different days, and when this person is calm and relaxed. The average value is the real BP. Treat accordin ...Read more

May I know what is the different between perindopril and atenolol? As I know both are use to control blood pressure.

Here is. ..: Artificially lowering high BP can be done through avoiding blood volume overloading by sodium restriction and diuretic use, and / or relaxing vascular wall by taking one of blood-vessel-wall relaxer such as perindopril - an angiotension converting enzymes (ACE) inhibitors, or lowering heart pumping by taking Atenolol; but their potential interacting & synergetic effect does exist. Detail? Ask Doc. ...Read more

Is it ok to switch from amlodipine 10 mg to perindopril 4 mg in known hypertensives? The switch is due to development of ankle edema

Is it ok to switch from amlodipine 10 mg to perindopril 4 mg in known hypertensives? The switch is due to development of ankle edema

It is ok: Perindopril is ace inhibitor and amlodipine is calcium channel blocker, typically in my experience, if you required 10 mg of amlodipine to control bp, perindopril 4 mg may not be able to control bp. Some times, if we cut amlodipine down to 5 mg and add acei, works well and edema might resolve (chance of edema is lot higher with 10 mg compared to lower doses). ...Read more
