Joint/Back pain: You have a difficult problem because of your history. You should seek the advice of a qualified physiatrist who specializes in spine care. Preferentially they should work in the same practice as a spine surgeon so you can get both opinions. ...Read more
I have been on Accutane for 6 weeks on a dose of 1.5mg/kg and started getting lower back pain 2 weeks ago. Should I be worried and is it permanent?
Usually no.: Accutane is a very powerful medication with significant side effects including joint pain. Once you stop the accutane, the joint pains, in your case back pain, should slowly resolve back to your baseline. You should report any side effects, however, to your dermatologist who is managing your accutane. ...Read more

Day 14 on Accutane 40mg my severe back pain has been dialed down to moderate with help of therapeutic heat wraps. Is this a cause for concern anymore?
While you can get: Joint aches and pain with accutane, it is unusual to start that early in the course of Accutane therapy. I would think perhaps you may have strained a muscle but if pain continues you should talk with dermatologist who prescribed the accutane, and may need to discontinue. ...Read more

Possible cause: Accutane can be associated with same symptoms as vitamin a toxicity. Headache, bone/ joint pain, muscle pain with weakness, and abdominal pain to name a few. Derm ordered labs for back pain while on accutane. Checking Tryglicerids, Cholesterol, ALT, AST, BUN, & Creatine. What are they, what are we looking 4?
Accutane can cause: elevation in certain enzymes and proteins. These are just some of the lab values that are checked on a monthly basis to make sure that Accutane is not causing an elevation in these values, it is not because of the back pain (back pain and joint pain can be caused by Accutane itself). ...Read more

Many things: You can try antiinflammatory medications like ibuprofen or naproxen when it's really bad as well as a heating pad for those particularly bad days. I have had back pain for almost two weeks, started in my si joint and now moved to my low spine. Why is it worse while sitting? And locks when standin
Sitting = pain: At your age you are very likely to have degenerative changes in your spine. Back pain is one of the most common complaints to doctors. Most people with back pain do not like to sit for long periods of time. It has to do with the position your spine is in when you sit. The best advice is to sit less or for only short periods of time. Alternate with walking and standing. If no improvement, seek help. ...Read more
14yrs old already have back pain everywhere constantly. Worst in back/joints. Not overweight. Suggestions?
Need imaging: You should not have back pain at this age, so you will need imaging to identify issues. Have you done gymnastics, dancing or other exercises with forced back extension? A common cause of back pain in your age group with these activities is spondylolysis, which is a small break in a piece of your vertebrae (stable normally) that can lead to back pain. Need imaging for diagnosis. Hope you feel better! ...Read more
Why? It has been discovered and researched that as much as 25% of back pain is cause by the si joint. I'm reasearching before I have it done
See below: This is controversial. Si pain may be more frequent than we once thought (perhaps up to 25%) however it is not easy to diagnose as the typical physical examination tests for si joint pain are not reliable. Also, pain from the lumbar spine frequently presents with pain over the si joint. Direct injection of local anesthetic (+/- cortisone) is felt to be a more reliable way to diagnose si pain. ...Read more
M58, have severe back pain when stand up from sitting after that its fine. Is this herniation or slip disc. Also general joint weakness pain all body?
Back pain: Pain that is worse after rest, but better with activity tends to be some kind of a degenerative or inflammatory condition like vertebral disc disease, or disc degeneration. A herniated disc would tend to have some kind of symptoms that radiate into the leg. Sounds like a general rheumatological workup including some imaging study of the lower spine is something to consider. ...Read more
