Accupuncture Without Ivf Anyone
Acupuncture is a treatment based on Chinese medicine -- a system of healing that dates back thousands of years. At the core of Chinese medicine is the notion that a type of life force, or energy, known as qi (pronounced "chee") flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Each meridian corresponds to one organ, or group of organs, that governs particular bodily functions. Achieving the proper flow of qi is thought to create health and wellness. Qi maintains the dynamic balance of yin and yang, which are complementary opposites. According to Chinese medicine, everything in nature has both yin and yang. An imbalance of qi (too much, too little, or blocked flow) causes disease. To restore balance to the qi, an acupuncturist inserts needles at points along the meridians. These acupuncture points are places where the energy pathway is close to the ...Read more
Medical tourism.: Although many patients consider travelling abroad for ivf treatment to save money, things to consider are that some countries don't monitor success rates objectively so you are left to search on your own. Some countries restrict the types of procedures allowed and patients travel to the United States for treatment. Many also travel to the us for the improved success rates with each transfer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I don't know much about herbal medicine but don't have good insurance. Are there any plant treatments for herniated disk?
Herbal Rx for HNP: While herbal treatments have not been shown to have any direct effect on herniated discs, time may be your best friend as many disc herniations can resorb and get smaller spontaneously and not need surgery, epidural steroids may be more beneficial for pain control. A short period of rest followed by therapy is always warranted. Surgery is indicated for progressive pain or neurologic deficits. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I would say yes: In my experience, i've seen some "natural" treatments work. It really depends on the underlying cause(s) of infertility to begin with, though. For example, if sperm is bad because a man smokes 3 packs of cigarettes per day, you can throw all the natural treatments you want at that and still go nowhere. I've recommended pregnitude recently. ...Read more
Pregnitude: Personally i doubt it: there are 2 very limited studies to my knowledge, both looking at women with glycemic abnormalities, one was an ivf study. These studies were 'optimistic, ' but not overwhelming. I'm sure it won't hurt to take it, but i'm unconvinced that it's been proven to do much. Your call! ...Read more
Are physicians able to help a patient who insisted on using some traditional chinese medical treatments?
Many ways: Keep an open mind. Don't force the patient to chose between standard and traditional medicine. Ensure that there are no drug- drug interactions between herbs or other substances prescribed by tcm providers & western med providers. Ensure that you know all tcm meds that patient is taking. Collaborate with providers. See where tcm and standard medicine can complement each other. Educate ...Read more
I have failed numerous times trying traditional ways to quit smoking is there any unconventional tips or ways you guys know?
A good tip!: This has helped many - even if you find other things too, use it. The smokers breathing pattern is actually good for you - it's relaxing and lowers BP. When folk quit - it's part of what their bodies miss. So do it (W/Oo the cigarette!!) as often and as long you'd have smoked. Inhale a deep breath - hold it in - blow it ALL out through lips. It does good things chemically. Good luck! ...Read more

No change in success: Although very popular in the last 5-6 years, a large multi-center study published in 12/2008 showed that there was no difference in success rates with ivf in couples that did acupuncture vs. Not doing acupuncture. In my experience, that is true, but the one benefit I have seen is that it definitely relaxes you prior to the procedure; and there is no "down" side. Hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Younger is better: All fertility treatments are more successful in younger women. The decision of when to undergo any treatment is a balance of what is needed, results, costs and personal preferences. I think waiting until all else fails can be a poor strategy because IVF technology works and is generally safe. A new trend has been to create and bank embryos when young for children in the future. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
