Fasting w/ diabetes: It can be a problem. If you drop into sig. Hypoglycemia then your only option is to eat or drink some glucose (sugar). Or you could use a Glucagon pen. But we save that for severe hypoglycemia. Your best bet is to reduce your Insulin doses or diabetic meds the night before to prevent the lows in the first place. Normal fasting: 65-105 when drawn out of a vein while fasting. Various authorities have different "normal" levels. There are, however, no exact cut-offs, it's all a continuium. Finger sticks are not accurate enough for diagnosis. Two hour post meal should be less than 130-140, and any glucose >200 at any time suggests diabetes.
