If X-rays R -,: that means the injury 2 the AC joint is a grade 1, meaning it was "jammed" but no structural damage was seen. This is a joint active in all shoulder & arm motion, & can B "sprained" like any other joint. Doing nothing now is the best plan. Give it time & C if it clears. If it persists B re-evaled. AC SEPARATION: Typically an AC JOINT separation can be treated conservatively when it is only a type 2 or 3. Treatment consists of therapy to regain motion after a short period in a sling. These are 2 differen: Conditions, like a tooth problem and a gum problem. The ac joint separation is the result of an injury to the joint on top of the shoulder; while the rc injury is a tear of the tendons (which from the rc). They are like 1/2 an inch from each other. Follow up in AM: As long as there is no broken bones and no loss of consciousness grade 1 ac joint separations are not emergencies. However, this diagnosis was made by a coach. And technically speaking, the clavicle is always involved since the further most end of it makes up half of the ac joint itself. ...Read more
