See your doctor: If it hurts that much and is getting bigger, you may benefit from your doctor doing an incision and drainage on the abscess. The sooner it drains or gets drained, the less likely a worsened local infection will occur. Abscess: An abscess can be incised and drained with a local anesthetic. Best start on the antibiotic or two different antibiotics to cover MRSA Staph and non-MRSA. Add heat compresses, then have the I & D the next day. It will need to be packed with gauze daily to keep it from closing back up. Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected. ...Read more
