Yes: After the tooth is removed. The dentist will clean out the infected tissues around the tooth. Then the blood will fill in where tooth used to be and form a clot. Cannot predict: Without seeing the area before and after and the damage done by the abscess it is not possible to say. Are you on antibiotic ? Often this will help the swelling go down.
