Smaller is good but: Only time will tell if you will get complete resolution of the infection. I'm not sure what you are referring to when you san 'part one' of my rct. Was the rct completed? What was the prognosis given to you by your dentist? This needs to be monitored for about 3 months (or longer) in order to know if the rct will be successful or other treatment is indicated. ...Read more

I had a bad abscess last april, it was so infected i was on medicine until august and then finally my root canal started which was a combination of 3 more visits to complete it. My tooth still is sore on and off and a bad oder comes from it. I don't fee

Saginaw, I : Saginaw, i truly don't know how things were handled, but a bad smell and soreness tells me it is not right now. Not everything turns out the way we want it to. Be patient: It may take some time (10-14 days or so) for the swelling to go down significantly. Try rinsing frequently with warm salt water and apply moist heat 3X a day. Take NSAIDs OTC for swelling and pain control. Good luck a ...Read more

Biopsy: You can do a biopsy by itself. Usually non-surgical root canal treatment does not involve cutting the gum. You can do both procedure in one setting. ...Read more

Keep an eye on it: Unfortunately, root canal treatments can have recurring infections for several reasons. What is important, in my opinion, is to resolve the infection prior to completing the root canal therapy. If it was completed in the presence of active infection, you will need to monitor it closely. If taking antibiotics, the pus should resolve, but could still return later. Pus never really is normal. ...Read more

Call your dentist: After the root canal treatment, you may have some swelling and certainly some pain. If swelling does not decrease after 48-72 call your dentist immediately for post root canal evaluation and treatment if needed. ...Read more

See your dentist: He/she must be certain that the infection is fully eliminated before the tooth is restored with final restoration. If the infection remains it increases the risk of post treatment pain and root canal failure. See your dentist for re-evaluation. ...Read more
