Abscess Inner Thigh
Abscess on inner thigh ±1 cm.Area around is red&tender. No pus yet.Causing discomfort when walking. What to do to get the pus out? Will neosporin help?
See MD: Neosporin will not help. You need to go to see your doctor to see what it is- lymphadenitis vs abscess vs other. Antibiotic should help. If there is a large abscess and if antibiotic does not help-then incision and drainage may be needed- in addition to antibiotic. But go to see your doctor first. ...Read more

I have tested positive for MRSA in the past from an abscess on my inner thigh area. Does this mean I will always have MRSA? Dr was very uninformative.
Not necessarily: once the infection is adequately treated you will not have an active MRSA infection. your skin has been colonized with MRSA and no one can really know if you will always have it. there are eradication protocols for people who carry MRSA in their nares. i would say that about 1/3 of the people i see in the hospital have MRSA. it's not something to be ashamed of. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Many treatments can be helpful, including antibiotic lotions or chronic use of some oral antibiotics to decrease the bacteria, medications that decrease male hormone levels (for women), some acne meds, like acutane, or anti-inflammatory meds (steroids). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Probable cyst: This sounds like a sebaceous cyst, or furuncle. By "comes and goes" do you mean that it drains occasionally? This is a typical cyst with sebum, or a waxy interior that can become infected with staph. It can be treated with lancing and drainage and/or antibiotics, but best treatment is removing the cyst and capsule, so it will not recur. This is usually a simple office procedure. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Apply heat: This is the first treatment for almost any boil, and it should be done 20' 4-6x daily and with moisture if possible (warm washcloth or compress) to encourage circulation to the area and drainage of any pus. If this doesn't work, you could need for it to be lanced. If by "inner thigh" you mean vulva, in or adjacent to labia, then you should still use heat, but should also see a doc. Good luck! ...Read more
