Bartholin's Cyst: If they aren't completely removed, can tend to recur...An option is having a catheter placed that has a small balloon in it to allow your body to make a permanent fistula (bigger permanent hole) that will allow it to drain--it is removed after a while, and hopefully will not become re-infected again. I had an abscess drained three years ago. It keeps coming back and I have to go to the emergency room to have it drained. I have not gotten any answer?

MD/Dentist: If the abscess is recurring and is located other than in your mouth you need to have an md/pcp do a work up and get a diagnosis. If this is a dental issue then it is from an infected tooth that may or may not have a root canal. The best thing to do in this instance is to see a dentist and get the offending tooth treated. ...Read more

Normal: Scar tissue can absolutely be uncomfortable. It may help to massage your scar with lotion daily. Are you concerned there is another abscess forming? If the area is red, increasingly large, hot or tender it is best to see a doctor for a proper evaluation. ...Read more
