Small nasal polyp on bottom of left frontal sinus and polyp in left maxillary floor. Could these polyps cause unusual tastes with increased mucus?

Perhaps but: If these were diagnosed on a ct scan, I would wager that the findings may actually be more consistent with mucus retention cyst or mucosal thickening rather than polyp. See an ENT who can perform an endoscopic evaluation in the office for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Polyps may cause increased nasal discharge. ...Read more

Is a D&C Required for an echogenic focus--endometrium polyp 1.2 x. 7 x 1 seen in transvaginal US 2 yrs. Ago, or watch & wait? No abnormal bleeding.

Probably not needed: Since most endometrial polyps in premenopausal women are benign and some small ones (like the one you may have had 2 years ago) may regress spontaneously, there is no clear or urgent need a D and C. If you are concerned or considered at high risk for endometrial hyperplasia/cancer, you may want to discuss risks/benefits of a saline sonohysterogram or an office hysteroscopy with your Gyn instead. ...Read more

Have to be there!: Lumps on the scalp are often sabaceous cysts: they grow from blocked glands that produce oil or sweat. They are problematic when they bother the person -or when they become infected. These can be removed by a doctor. Soft lumps may be lipomas: fatty growths. I would encourage you not to squeeze or otherwise try to remove these on your own, though. Have your wife's doctor evaluate her. Lgromkomd. ...Read more

I have had abnormal monthly bleeding for 3+ yrs. I tried birth control pills, had a hysterosonogram which showed polyps and fibroid. I had a dnc and the abnormal bleeding stopped for 3mths, then it came back. Md stumped. Ideas?

Dysmenorrhea: At age 30, the likely causes are the cervical polyp and/or the fibroid. These tend to bleed and heal and bleed again. If the D&C debrided all the tissue, then it is a mystery. Possibly, the procedure left behind some abnormal remnants of the fibroid, and may need to be re debrided. Sometimes, ocs are prescribed for individuals who continue to have abnormal periods. If that doesn't work, D&C again? ...Read more
