Abnormal Pap Could Indicate Ovarian Cancer
Total hys. In 2005 because of stage 3 ovarian cancer. Now had 2 abnormal paps and scheduled for another in 2 weeks. Also 2 scopes showed nothing.

Pap and ovarian CA: First just remember a Pap test is only good for finding cervical CA. It doesn't find ovarian or uterine CA. That's why ovarian CA is called the silent CA and uterine CA presents with bleeding. Your abnormal pap is not even at a level where it would be CA yet. See below: Being obsessed about cancer is not helpful. Take oral iron and vitamins to prevent anemia from heavy periods. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Annual exam: A pap smear is typically done during the annual exam. A pap smear is the test done to detect and prevent cervical cancer. During the pelvic exam the ovaries are felt. Exam: I would not recommend obtaining a ca-125 as it is a nonspecific test in patients without ovarian cancer. I would recommend a gynecologic exam.
