LIttle confusing: Emg testing is specific to the nerve muscle connection. Emg is also a broad term that may also include ncs or nerve conduction testing as well. The ncs looks at the function of large fiber nerves which can be normal if the main source of a nerve problem is the small fiber nerves. Small fiber nerves can be evaluated with a small biopsy.
