Time

Some ovarian cysts are functional cysts that will go away in 2-6 weeks. Sometimes birth control pills will help them to resolve faster. Other cysts are benign growths. These don't go away and if they get large enough will need to be removed surgically. If you aren't starting to feel better in several weeks see your doctor again.

Likely so, if...

A CT scan is an excellent test to see intra-abdominal/pelvic organs, but just abdominal scan may not go down far enough to completely visualize the ovaries. I suspect if you have trouble in lower abd, the test would be ordered for both abdominal/pelvic CT which sure will see the ovaries.. Best of luck to you

Maybe

The ovaries are in the pelvis and an abdominal CT frequently will not pick up the ovaries. If there is suspicion of a problem with the ovaries in particular, the best imaging of the ovaries is with a transvaginal ultrasound.

Interesting Fact

Ovarian cysts are usually NOT a source of pelvic pain. Ovaries make cysts (follicles) for a living!

Can pelvic pain due to late period & ovarian cyst rupture also cause abdominal pain ?

Pain

Pelvic pain

A late period in itself should not cause pelvic pain. Rupture of an ovarian cyst can - sometimes the (follicle) cyst that released the egg, e.g., at the time of ovulation can fill with blood. This is called a hemorrhagic cyst (cyst filled with blood). The blood in the cyst can cause distention and the pain from that distention can radiate into other parts of the abdomen.
